Although each painted frame is seen on screen for only 1/24th of a second in The Meaning of Life, every planet in this outer space sequence is nevertheless individually watercolored with careful detail.

The black boxes inked around each planet helps to composite them into the finished sequence, which will be made up of a great number of separate camera exposures.
